The mountain ranges about 11 km from west to east, perpendicular to the Mediterranean coast. The sierra covers an area of ​​1,900 hectares, divided between the municipalities of Alcalalí, Jalón, Benisa, Calpe, Altea, Callosa de Ensarriá and Tárbena. The highest peak of the Sierra de Bernia, which is used as a geodesic vertex, is located in the municipality of Jalón and measures 1128 meters above sea level. This space also has European impotance, in fact it is considered, LIC (Serres de Bèrnia i el Ferrer) Places of community interest of the Valencian Community, ZEPA (Muntanyes de la Marina) which is a special protection area for birds. It is located in the municipalities of Alcalalí, Jalón, Benisa, Calpe, Altea, Callosa de Ensarriá and Tárbenay in the districts of Marina Baixa and La Marina Alta. It is an itinerary per a vianants senyalitzat, format per the connexió of paths, roads, assagadors, pistes, etc., that avoid, in the possible moderation, the trànsit per carreteres asfaltades i amb trànsit de vehicles.
